What do we stand for?

The 4 C's

Creative

Creation Mill CIC was set up to shout about all things textiles, from the very beginning; fibre creation, to the very end; reusing, reducing, and recycling textile waste!

We offer many workshops to help people of all ages to develop new skills.

In the past, we have offered sewing, knitting, weaving, and fibre production workshops.

Community

Creation Mill has been established as a CIC to reinvest all the surplus and profit into the community by providing services such as free after-school clubs and funded sessions.

We offer ‘In Stitches’ sessions in 3 locations: Langholm, Canonbie, and Kirkpatrick Fleming.

We also offer weekly drop-in sessions, including Mending Monday and Welcome Wednesday. These sessions are open to anyone who wants to get out of the house and enjoy a nice hot drink while meeting new people in a warm and friendly environment.

Careers

Langholm Academy visiting FTS Dyers

Creation Mill aims to support the future generation of the textile industry in and around Langholm. We pledge to provide accessible workshops, short courses, and training sessions in all things textiles.

We have a busy youth work calendar, which includes after-school sessions, summer holiday sessions, in-school workshops, sewing workshops, and more! This gives students an understanding and knowledge about the variety of career options available in fashion and textiles.

Circularity

Scrap Store Yarns

Creation Mill CIC always encourages its beneficiaries to look at the fabrics and textile products around them first before buying new ones. We source fabrics and materials for all our workshops and classes from our Scrap Store—even designing workshops to work around using up scraps.

We take in industry and community donations and repurpose them into DIY kits and packs. We hope to encourage our community to reuse the circularity of fabrics and yarns and help people learn more about sustainability in the fashion and textiles industry.

We have attended fibre festivals for the last 2 years, including Tangled, Yarndale, the North East Wool Festival, and The Cumbrian Wool Gathering. This has enabled us to take our sustainability-focused products to different areas, spread awareness about Creation Mill CIC, and sell items from our scrap store.
